The College of Teachers

Wow, it’s been WAY too long since I’ve posted to this, but then it’s been way too long really since I stopped moving around and got back to my normal life! Things have been hectic since I left Oxford University Computing Services and Oxford itself at the end of December…

I don’t really miss Oxford too much if I’m honest, as due to the fact that I was only ever there temporarily (which lastest longer than I thought it would) I never connected with the place as much as I’d have liked. Saying that though, I met some brilliant people there, which it would have been cool to get to know better. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep in touch with all this Web 2.0 jazz and maybe see them again soon.

Xmas went by in a flash of friends and family, but nothing far from the norm (except maybe not getting as trashed as usual which probably saved a bit of punishment) but was really just a stopgap between jobs and locations. I do miss my friends at home, which is why I went back so often whilst I was living in Oxford, but I still don’t think I could live there. Not just yet anyways…

After commuting for 3 weeks just after Xmas to London for my new job I finally moved there (to Haringey) since I remembered what the commute was like between Loughborough and Nottingham, which was unfun; for the record commuting between Northampton and London is at least 2-3 times more unfun.

I now work for The College of Teachers, which is an independent professional body for teaching… amongst other complicated things that I don’t entirely understand yet (like Royal Charters and awarding qualifications for example) but the state of ICT was a bit further back than I imagined when I started. Needless to say trying to get things sorted has been a hectic job, plus the demands of a small organisation on top of that!

I need a rest, but at least we’re getting an internet connection installed in our flat tomorrow woohoo!
