Personal thoughts and ponderings

Locked out

Looking back it seems pretty funny, but I wasn't having the best of times when I locked myself out of my flat on Sunday evening! Since I'm living in temporary accomodation at the moment there are all sorts of locks to open between the front door and my room; 2 on the front door and 2 on the room door. However you can't actually lock yourself in the room, as one is a Yale lock and the other can...

Budget

Like most people in England (or anyone who works at least) will have heard about the new 50% tax bracket, which has apparently won over public support because it taxes the rich. If I'm honest, it seems pretty dumb. Rich people already pay a ridiculous amount of tax, taxing them a little bit more (and proportionately to population it won't affect all that many people, or make that much money)...

Commuting is starting to get the better of me, as it did in 2008 when I first started working in London. 3-4 weeks was about my limit then, and it seems to be about my limit now. Freelance work is still slowly getting done, but mostly my time is either spent travelling, or desperately trying to revise for my upcoming MySQL Developer II exam, after passing Developer I a fortnight ago. I'm sure...

Past acquaintances

In the first proper night out I've had in Northampton since I moved back, it was weird seeing so many old acquaintances that I haven't seen in a long time, without actually trying! I sometimes forget that I spent most of my life here, and that no matter what some of that is going to filter back into my life...
